Offering a wider range of organic ornamental and edible gardening services, we are a passionate and proud small business that helps you develop a gentler landscape through the garden you want.
We find it impossible to just do the job: we complete each project with the thoroughness and care each and every living space deserves.
Who we are:
Chris MacLuckie aka The Farmer
owner-operator on site every time. 8 year background in organic commercial agriculture previous to starting TGS in 2007. A firm proponent of organic and local approaches to soil/plant health and an expert in small space food production.
Don Moffatt aka Mr. Murphy
15 year veteran of the Toronto gardening/landscaping industry, Don is plant-centric and tackles big jobs with the most efficient approach, while using appropriate and sustainable tools: hand snips, shears, pitchfork, perennial spade.
The Greener Side has been active since 2007 in the research, development and application of sustainable gardening approaches including:
1. vermi-composting and thermophilic composting
2. edible landscaping including raised bed and vertical planter growing
3. organic inputs including aerated compost tea and recycled organic waste
4. common sense technologies such as hand tools, motorless lawn machinery, used vehicles and recycled containers
5. edible-ornamental integrated gardens that maximize the available space and express the clients aesthetic.
Proud members of OLA, Organic Landscape Alliance, COG, Canadian Organic Growers, and GET, Green Enterprise Toronto. We currently serve on the board of Organic Landscape Alliance as acting vice-president.
We are committed to furthering knowledge and experience of the industry by actively training new gardeners. We have recently hired our 2010 apprentice for the Humber College Horticultural Technician Program.
